The Winning Edge Seminars are a series of educational sport information sessions focused on the major components of athletic performance. The seminars serve as an additional resource for improving the sport experience for emerging and elite athletes in our region.
The Winning Edge seminars focus on, but are not limited too, the areas of set up, sports nutrition, sport psychology, strengthening and conditioning, and exercise physiology. These five areas are major components for any athlete to perform at his/her best. Set up teaches effective daily living habits. Sports nutrition allows one to have a better understanding of how to eat right to compete. Sport psychology aids in mental preparation for competition as well as daily training. Strengthening and conditioning teaches athletes, coaches and parents exercises that enhance performance in sport. Exercise physiology builds upon fundamental knowledge in human movement and functioning, focusing on the effects of lifestyle, exercise and diet on the human body. Each of these areas is directly linked with the prevention of injuries, physical strength, positive and effective lifestyle habits and the ability to reach personal best performances at any level of competition. Other seminar topics could include; future varsity athlete information sessions, media training, grant writing and pursuing external sources of funding for future athletic development.
Seminars may be targeted towards an individual sport group or the general public in which everyone is invited to attend.
