Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni Fundraising Game
Nov 24, 2016
Lethbridge - Alberta Sport Development Centre Southwest (ASDC SW) in partnership with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns is excited to announce a fundraising event featuring a 10-member Toronto Maple Leafs alumni team.
The iconic Toronto Maple Leafs are celebrating 100 NHL seasons in 2016/17 and will bring the celebration to Lethbridge on Thursday, March 9, 2017. The fundraising event will include a luncheon, a game with Leafs alumni going up against our own Pronghorns alumni at Nicholas Sheran Arena followed by a post-game meet and greet with all the players.
The event is an important fundraiser for the ASDC SW and regional athletes. Funds raised will support the Athlete Enhancement Program (AEP) and other ASDC SW services. “The ASDC SW AEP is the flagship program of the centre. Southwest Alberta’s budding youth athletes can receive high quality science-based sport training in Lethbridge with local focus and great personal attention, all without having to travel to Alberta's larger centres” said Centre Coordinator Joshua Hoetmer. “We are continuing to look at new and exciting ways to engage and educate the public of our programs and services, while at the same time raise funds to minimize costs to the athletes. We are excited to bring the Leafs alumni to Lethbridge” added Centre Administrator Neil Fraser.
The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns is excited to bring back some familiar faces and names to take on the Leafs alumni. “The Pronghorn men's hockey program shares a great connection with the Maple Leafs organization through their head coach Mike Babcock, who led the University of Lethbridge to a national championship in 1994. We're thrilled to partner with ASDC to bring the Leafs Century Tour to Lethbridge and to have our Pronghorns alumni share the ice with some all-time NHL greats" added Pronghorns Exexcutive Director Ken McInnes.
Visit www.asdcsw.ca or call the ASDC SW at (403) 320-5271 to inquire about event sponsorship and corporate meet and greet opportunities. Single-game tickets can be purchased online, also at www.asdcsw.ca, beginning November 28th, 2016.
Alberta Sport Development Centre Southwest is part of a network funded through Alberta Sport Connection. The University of Lethbridge is celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2017 and is home to Pronghorns athletics.
